It has optional ability to read Digimarc codes. Datalogic Magellan 9800i reads 1D and 2D barcodes from labels, packaging, boarding passes or from the screens of mobile devices. It is an omnidirectional table scanner, with compact and ergonomic design and USB interface.

The Magellan 9800i model has a smaller vertical reader, raised 68mm above the platen, compared to the Magellan 9300i/9400i models which are raised 130mm above the platen, maintaining the same reading performance.

The Magellan 9800i model can be optionally equipped with a third scanner mounted on an arm, called TDR, which maximizes scanning speed by adding new angles for reading barcodes.

It is delivered in the Medium Platter version.

It is available in 3 sizes: Short, Medium, Long. The Medium and Long variants can be equipped with a weighing cell; the Short version cannot have a scale.
