Connecting to PC

Connecting to PC

Cash registers can connect to PC in 3 ways:

1.In line, in which cash registers functions as a fiscal printer. Thus it can receive orders from different sales and administration programs, print receipts, without using the keyboard of the cash machine, but a PC. Most sales programs use an intermediate driver for sending the orders, like DatPrint or FPrint.
2.Off Line, in which the cash register communicates with the PC only for occasional downloading and uploading of some information, like memorizing of PLU in the cash machine or downloading sales reports into the PC. Concerning the sales, the cash machine will be used independent by the PC. An example of application which uses the cash register offline is Dat Plu.
3.On Line, in which the cash register communicates with the PC using the PLU memorized in the PC. This way there can function simultaneous 2 or 3 cash registers connected to the PC, each of them taking PLU from the same list. This way the PLU number will not be limited to the memory of the cash register. An example of driver that can use the cash register on line is Driver ECR Online.
Not all the cash register models support those 3 connecting modes, so please decide in which way (with PC connection) you will use the product before choosing the model. Click here for compatibility list between Datecs and programs.
